lyrics

I was weak for a time. You almost took me in,
But my faith is overriding the need to follow sin
Casting off compulsion like a reptile sheds its skin,
I decline to enlist in the ranks. I can never call them kin
Though it seems to benefit the greater good of man,
The only augment I endorse is the will to take a stand
In the face of deep compression, our instinct is to give
Collapsing under expectations, you will never truly live

I cannot be forced to submit
I will not stand idly by
I refuse to become everything I hate in exchange for acceptance in your eyes
Endorsement is a poison
They lap it up with pride
Blinded by dependence and the pressure to comply

Two fatalistic doses were offered unto me
The instruments of my demise: avarice and apathy
Conditioned to the point of strain, it pains me to admit
That the path of least resistance almost had me in its grip
Intoxicated by the end, the means were justified
Until this sick affliction could no longer be denied
Excision is the sole recourse
Cut out excrescence at the source
Death to addicting video feeds,
Long live the new hypocrisy

Convenient, concise, pushing down the price
Before you know it, you’ll be chipped and flayed like fish on ice
R.F.I.D.s and ads and friends and games look pretty nice
When they’re packaged in a program to allay the stress of life
Oblivious to missionaries of the new flesh,
The parasitic zombies will consume until their last breath
And yet we are the ones who cannot seem to integrate
What they see is what they get and what they need will come too late
